چکیده

Scour-induced sediment erosion poses a significant threat to the safety and longevity of infrastructure, including bridges, wind turbines, elevated buildings, coastal infrastructure. Despite well-known destructive consequences scour, accurate models that capture complexity its dynamics remain elusive, impeding development effective countermeasures. We provide comprehensive review existing literature on scour examine fluid bed shear stress surrounding bridge piers. propose CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations with LES (Large-Eddy Simulation). The current paper demonstrate is more technique than RANS (Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes) for investigating scouring. study local induced effects compare findings simulation results. Besides, two countermeasures are modeled, delta vane plate footings, decrease around results show both effectively reduce stress, we also suggest combination footing as promising solution upstream downstream stress. highlights importance thorough investigations scouring need protect infrastructure from scour-related damage or collapse. recommended hold promise construction maintenance costs extend longevity.

Predicting Bridge Pier Scour Depth with SVM

Prediction of maximum local scour is necessary for the safety and economical design of the bridges. A number of equations have been developed over the years to predict local scour depth using laboratory data and a few pier equations have also been proposed using field data. Most of these equations are empirical in nature as indicated by the past publications. In this paper attempts have been ma...

Turbulent characteristics in flow subjected to bed suction and jet injection as a pier-scour countermeasure

The effect of a combined system of the bed suction and jet injection as a pier-scour countermeasure on the turbulent flow field is studied in a laboratory flume using an Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter (ADV). The three components of the velocities in the vertical symmetry plane in the equilibrium scour hole in front and rear of the pier under 3-jet injections and bed suction rate Qs/Q0 = 2%located...

a study on rate making and required reserves determination in reinsurance market: a simulation

reinsurance is widely recognized as an important instrument in the capital management of an insurance company as well as its risk management tool. this thesis is intended to determine premium rates for different types of reinsurance policies. also, given the fact that the reinsurance coverage of every company depends upon its reserves, so different types of reserves and the method of their calc...

Applied large eddy simulation.

Large eddy simulation (LES) is now seen more and more as a viable alternative to current industrial practice, usually based on problem-specific Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) methods. Access to detailed flow physics is attractive to industry, especially in an environment in which computer modelling is bound to play an ever increasing role. However, the improvement in accuracy and flow d...
